We’ve just added millions of new parish records to our Westminster collection, bringing the total number of records available to search on findmypast.co.uk to 3 million.
The records come from more than 50 Westminster churches for the vast period 1538-1945 and will prove invaluable to anyone tracing their London ancestors.

As well as telling the stories of the ordinary people of London, the records hold details of prime ministers, presidents, authors and artists.
We discovered the record of artist Joseph Turner’s baptism at St Paul, Covent Garden – click on the image on the right for a larger version. This beautifully handwritten document tells us that Turner’s parents were called William and Mary and that he was baptised in May 1775.
